What your teacher didn't tell you

I'm reading a book entitled as above by political historian, A. Farish Noor.

It is based around several lectures he gave in which the topics include the political struggle of Dr Burhanuddin Al Helmy, distortion of "Hikayat Hang Tuah" as a tool of the ethno-nasionalist party in Malaysia, ancient Southeast Asian perception on sexuality and many more interesting topics.

This book is written as an effort by the author to criticize the conservative mainstream in Malaysia by highlighting the liberalism of the country's past.

It's history, presented with a slight sense humour and cynicism.
